The travel from Hobart, Australia to Auckland went well. Early in the morning we flew from Hobart to Melbourne and then to Auckland. At the airport in Auckland we rented a Toyota sedan so we could get around town during the week there. The five flights cost us $2840 USD and the car was $450 USD.
It took us quite some time to get back home. We left Auckland at 7:30 pm and flew to San Francisco where we arrived at 10:30 am on the same day. During this flight we crossed the International Date Line from west to east and instead of arriving in San Francisco the next day it was still the same day. Therefore, we gained a day. In San Francisco we had a connecting flight to Houston and then a final flight to Raleigh. It all went smoothly. The total cost was $6640 USD.
